"Ella!" I yelled as soon as I saw her come through the front door,
"Mother?" She rose an eyebrow.
"What is that?!" I demanded.
"Heh heh, what does it look like?" She teased weekly, shifting her eyes around the room nervously.
"That had better not be a real nose ring."
"Well, I mean technically," Her ears twitched as she shifted from foot to foot, "It's a stud..."
My eyes narrowed at her, and her ears flattened against her head in response, "Ella Soraya Couse-" She flinched, "What did we just talk about, not two days ago?!!"
"... How I wasn't getting a nose piercing because you weren't paying..?" She offered weakly, smiling innocently, "But, I mean obviously I handled that."
"Huh? As I recall it was about how you were not going to be getting a nose piercing, money or not." I snapped, still glaring at her.
".. Oh, huh.. How 'bout that..." She laughed nervously, adjusting her glasses.
Slowly the glare slipped from my face as my anger deflated, "Well, it's over with now, nothing to be done." I shrugged, heading down the hall towards the kitchen.
Her head snapped up, and she narrowed her eyes in suspicion, "Wait.. What?" She asked, following me down the hall.
"You better take care of that thing."
"... That's it?"
"Yep." I replied casually, pausing in the entryway to the kitchen, "Oh, and you get to tell your father."
As I walked over to the fridge I could hear her mutter "Shit" under her breath, I leaned against the fridge with a smug smile on my face.
"... It's pretty cute though right?" She asked, tilting her head to the side.
"Oh yeah, really cute actually." She smiled, "You're still grounded though." The smile dropped and her ears soon followed as we heard the front door open and close.
"Thea, Ella? Could one of you come help me with the groceries?" Aaron called,
My smile widened to a Cheshire grin, "Why don't you go help him with that dear."
She glared at me, "You're evil." She turned around and took a deep breath before heading back for the front room.
"... Being a mom is fun." I chuckled darkly.
